Introduction: StarStrider

 Hello Equidae! I'm following sabr 's lead with an intro post. =)
(sabr or sundog , let me know if I tagged anything wrong!)

I'm a 23-year-old Wisconsinite, and the two-legger counterpart of an 18.1-hand Hanoverian/TB gelding named Itolocus ("Toler"). Toler is 11, and we do mostly dressage these days as well as some jumping. We used to be more into jumping with hopes of doing some mini-events someday, but we had a jumping accident two years ago that has derailed that train of thought. We're making our comeback from that as well as some other injuries, so while we used to be showing at second level and schooling third, we are back schooling first level again. I sometimes think it would be fun to find a giant cart to hook him up to. (I think he'd enjoy combined driving, personally.)  XD  Fun facts: Toler is also a registered Canadian Sporthorse and Canadian Warmblood, as he was bred in Manitoba near Winnipeg.

Toler is my only horse, but the place I board him at breeds and trains Arabian Sporthorses (and Half-Arabian Sporthorses), as well as some OTT rescues. I occasionally do some training myself.

I also do equine sports massage, equine trigger point therapy, equine acupressure, joint yoga therapy, and a little equine chiropractic work. I'm not a professional or certified, but I know enough to work on my own horse quite comfortably, and he does see a professional massage therapist and chiropractor when we can afford it.

I am also an equine photographer, like sabr and sundog. I run a photoblog for my "imprint" TolHorse Studios. I also have a training blog for my journey with Toler, but I admit I haven't posted there recently...If anyone's interested, there are feeds for both here on DW: tolhorsestudios_feed  & notquitehercules_feed .

Welcome welcome! I do love me some Toler-goodness. I just love giants. Next to my spry little 15hh something or others, they're like giant puppies!

I added a tag for Toler's adventures, it's 'starstrider - toler' I think it will be cool to let people see what kind of adventures our individuals are up to, so you can filter by horses stories individually :)

Haha, I know, right? The other day I had Toler standing in the arena and one of the little girls came up next to me on her 13-something-hand pony; she was hardly at my knee height! XD "Puppy" is exactly, right, too. Especially if you've ever seen the way he drinks from a hose...

Have you made a post about it at Equestrian? I don't know if they'd be okay with that sort of thing, but I've been wondering how many people over there are on DW now as well. They have so many members I hardly doubt a few DW-migrators would make a difference. I don't really know how else to pimp this place, though. You guys are the only other horse people on my DW reading list so far. I gotta say, as far as I've noticed, the lack of equestrians on here is the only difference between DW and LJ I don't like.

Equestrian would absolutely not be okay with it - I only know this because I'm very familiar with their rules now, because I used them to build the rules here, lol. They don't allow community promotion. BUTTT, if we posted on there seeking other equine DWers, then invited them as they joined up, that would be okay I think.

Yeah, I didn't think about that. I think seeking other DWers would be a good idea, though. Sometimes I feel silly posting about horse-technical things in my journal because I know that only you and sundog really have any clue what I'm talking about. XD

Honestly, sometimes I don't even know what you're talking about. I'm not real good with the more technical sides of training. Like, I know WHAT you're talking about, but not necessarily the how and the why of what you are doing. I'm just an endurance gal!

But the important thing about blogging is being able to recount your footsteps later.

That's exactly it, though. I mean, it's not like I would stop anyway. ;)

You're not a snob at all! I'm just one of 'those' equestrians. You know, the ones who dress their horses up in obnoxious colors, and do totally goofy things. My horse wears a bunch of blaze orange, for crying out loud :P His old saddle pad has FLAMES on it. It matches his blaze orange though, right? His next one is just going to be orange. ORANGE ORANGE ORANGE.

HAHA. Toler has some neon greenish-yellow leg wraps, but that's kind of it. Though, in our 4-H days, we were ring wraiths from LOTR for a drill team. He had to wear a face-mask made of cardboard and a cut-up bed sheet while I made very strange, loud screeching sounds to signal everyone. XD Blaze orange is pretty fun, though!

haha, that is made of win. HARDCORE. Poor Toler.

I love orange. Everyone is always like OOOO Smart, so you don't get shot!? And I just smile and nod. It's really because I'm tasteless.

p.s. I don't want to be annoying...Is there any way we could get a different layout? This one feels cluttered to me or something. I like the high contrast of it, though. Maybe it's because there aren't any clear borders to the "modules"? I don't know. XD It's fine if not, I can just style=mine for it.

You mean that there aren't clear borders between the entries? I'll see what I can do to tweak this one, since I really loves it and spent a long time on it yesterday, lol.

Haha, actually I don't mind that part (and I really love the color scheme), it's more that there isn't a border between the main entry column and the side-bar, I think, like there is with the navigation tabs, if that makes sense? I keep thinking that there should be a border there and then I think that my screen is overlapping the columns or something, which I don't think is the case? (I could be wrong!)

I've fixed one thing, but seemingly broke a few more - but I think I fixed your main grievance. AND, I made the subject lines bigger to differentiate better between entries. Likey likey?

No problem :) In the time it took me to complain about them, I had them fixed, lol. Made our icons full sized too! I like icons :)
